Donald Trump's Crypto Holdings: A Deep Dive into the President-elect's Digital Assets

Nov 12, 2024 at 03:16 am

Donald Trump's win as the next President of the United States (POTUS) has catalyzed what could be the next cryptocurrency bull run.

Donald Trump's Crypto Holdings: A Deep Dive into the President-elect's Digital Assets

Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election has been a key factor in the recent surge in cryptocurrency prices. Right before and after the election, “Trump Trades” have helped propel Bitcoin (BTC) to a series of all-time highs, also boosting other major altcoins and meme coins.

Trump’s win has brought renewed optimism to the crypto community, largely due to his campaign promises that could foster a more favorable regulatory landscape for digital assets. Among his pledges that resonated with the broader crypto community were his vows to make the US the “crypto capital of the planet” and “a Bitcoin mining powerhouse,” integrate BTC into the US Treasury as a “strategic reserve asset,” and fire US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler.

Moreover, Trump’s active participation in events and projects involving cryptos, along with his ownership of a significant amount of these digital assets in his crypto wallet, made him relatable to the crypto community.

Donald Trump’s Top 3 Crypto Assets

According to Arkham Intelligence’s on-chain monitoring platform, Trump’s cryptocurrency holdings amounted to $5.31 million as of November 11. This marked a substantial increase compared to his crypto holdings of around $3.4 million in mid-August this year.

The following are the most prominent cryptos in the president-elect’s wallet:

Ethereum (ETH)

An examination of Trump’s crypto wallet revealed a slight increase in his Ethereum token holdings, which went from 492.72 ETH in August to the present 495.535 ETH.

Thanks to Ether’s soaring values, which trailed Bitcoin’s price actions, the Republican politician’s ETH holdings exhibited major gains from its $1.28 million in August to the current $1.61 million. His Ether assets were mainly derived from his non-fungible token (NFT) sales.

Wrapped ETH (wETH)

The second most prominent denomination in Trump’s crypto wallet is Wrapped ETH (wETH), which is also a product of NFT-affiliated transactions.

The president-elect managed to subtly grow his holdings from 377.467 wETH in August to the prevailing 478.711 wETH. Trump’s wETH has gone up from around $980,000 three months ago to $1.59 million.

MAGA (TRUMP)

Despite the MAGA token reflecting Trump’s battle cry, it has no official links to the incoming POTUS. How the Republican politician got hold of his MAGA assets remains a mystery.

Some speculate that either he or his sons were secretly involved in the meme coin’s development. However, there’s also the possibility that the assets were merely airdropped to his account.

To date, Trump’s third most expensive token holding is MAGA. The celebrity businessman-turned-politician now has a total of 579.29K TRUMP tokens valued at $1.04 million.
