American rapper and singer Doja Cat became the latest victim of crypto hackers when her X account was hacked to promote a Solana-based meme coin.

Doja Cat's Twitter Account Hacked by Crypto Scammers to Pump a Token

American rapper and singer Doja Cat's Twitter account was hacked by crypto enthusiasts on Monday evening in an attempt to promote a Solana-based meme coin. The incident marks the latest instance of a high-profile account being compromised to pump a crypto token.

Upon discovering the hack, Doja Cat swiftly took to Instagram to alert her 24 million followers about the situation. She posted a story, clarifying that her account had been hacked and she was not responsible for the recent posts.

The hack commenced at 7:15 pm ET on Monday, when Doja Cat's account started tweeting about crypto. The first post linked to a holding address with a message urging users to “buy $DOJA or else.”

The hacker also removed Doja Cat's profile picture and description from her account, which boasts over 5.6 million followers. Throughout the hack, the account posted more than two dozen times.

However, eagle-eyed Twitter users quickly noticed the suspicious activity and promptly flagged the tweets. Despite the efforts to promote the meme coin, users remained skeptical.

The hacker's antics didn't end there. They proceeded to post comments on other personalities' accounts, including that of Iggy Azalea. Known for her active participation in the crypto space and her own meme coin $MOTHER, Azalea frequently tweets about cryptocurrency.

In response to the hacker's post on her account, Azalea, who it seems is aware of Doja Cat's account being hacked, tweeted:

“Get rugged if y’all want, but I’m cool w that girl in real life, so y’all fucked up w that tweet, hackers.”

When another user asked what had happened, Azalea explained:

“They hacked Doja Cat and have posted a sh**coin scam.”
