Dogs: a New Telegram Mini-App That Gives Out Coins for the Age of the Account
Aug 16, 2024 at 05:27 pm
After the success of Notcoin in the Telegram messenger, developers began to launch many applications with similar functionality. All of them have one thing in common — they offer tokens for taps on the screen and completing various tasks.
A new Dogs project has appeared on the Telegram platform, promising coins for the age of the user's account. Here's what's known about the initiative.
After the success of Notcoin in Telegram, developers have been rolling out various applications with a共通点 one thing in common: offering tokens for taps on the screen or completing tasks.
This is how another project, called Dogs, emerged. The mini-app, operating as a Telegram bot, reveals the duration of a user's registration in the messenger and awards a certain number of tokens based on the account age. The project logo features Spotty, the unofficial mascot of the VK social network.
The identity of the application's developers remains unknown, but this hasn't hindered its popularity. In the first three days following the launch of Dogs, over 10 million users joined the community.
A charity mascot with an adventurous life
VK founder Pavel Durov created the main VK mascot during a charity auction for orphaned children.
Since then, Spotty has become the unofficial symbol of VK, boasting even his own NFT collection, CryptoSpotty.
Spotty's adventures include being one of the first sticker characters and making an appearance at VK Fest. Time flies, and Spotty has even grown up and ventured into space!
Who are your dawg? Dogs explained
The application notifies users about the duration of their account registration and awards points accordingly. For instance, a user with a ten-year-old account can receive around 8,000 DOGS tokens.
Another factor considered in the points system is the Telegram Premium subscription, which grants users an additional 300 points. Another aspect is the Original Gangster status, indicating a user's long-standing and active presence on the messenger.
To further increase points, users can invite friends or boost their account level using the new Telegram Stars currency.
Currently, the application serves no other functions. However, the DOGS team promises to introduce new mechanics for obtaining additional coins.
DOGS listing
To date, the project team has not officially announced anything regarding the listing of the DOGS token, although some platforms launched Dogs token premarket trading as early as July.
In August, it became known that the Dogs token will be listed on several large centralized exchanges (CEX) on the TON blockchain (TON). The developers did not disclose the details of the Dogs token Telegram price but described it as more than just a meme coin:
It is not just another meme coin. It’s the most Telegram-native meme coin, embodying the spirit and culture of our vibrant community. We’re bringing Spotty’s legacy into the cryptocurrency world, creating something fun, community-driven, and uniquely ours.
Moreover, the developers announced the so-called “Dogenomics”, according to which 81.5% of tokens will go to the community without any locks. The remaining supply will be allocated for rewards to traders, sticker creators, and future community members, as well as for the team and future developments.
The tap-to-earn hype continues
The excitement surrounding Dogs is part of a broader interest in mini-apps within the Telegram messenger. Following the success of Notcoin, developers have been launching numerous applications that feature a共通点 tap-to-earn format.
Such games have become a hot trend, with Notcoin boasting 6 million daily active players at its peak and a total of 16 million users in its community. The Telegram channel of Hamster Kombat has over 34 million subscribers, while Blum has gathered a community of over 10 million members.
A key component of these games is a referral program that allows players to invite their friends and earn bonuses and boosts in return. This partly explains the multi-million communities of popular games.
However, the crypto community has varying opinions on tap-to-earn games. Optimists believe that their popularity will boost the crypto market and lead to a new bull cycle. For example, Bloomberg reporter Muyao Shen suggests that such games could become a “killer app” that will define the current bull market, much like the popularity of the game Axie Infinity a few years ago.
Skeptics, on the other hand, are convinced that tap-to-earn has no future and claim that it's just another pyramid scheme that will crumble as soon as the coins hit the exchange. Much will depend on whether the developers can fulfill their promises and on the behavior of the audience.
Telegram сonquers crypto market with mini apps
DOGS aims to create a community within Telegram and popularize meme tokens. It’s like a club of interests, but instead of common hobbies, users have a common illusion of the value of virtual dogs.
Despite its game-like nature, DOGS could be an exciting experiment. In essence, it is Telegram's attempt to capture a piece of the cryptocurrency market using its vast user base.
