A star pitcher from the Dodgers thinks it might not be great for baseball to add a new rule that's been stirring up some controversy lately.
Los Angeles Dodgers ace Tyler Glasnow is intrigued by a wacky rule that Major League Baseball (MLB) might be planning to implement in the future.
The rule, known as the "Golden At-Bat Rule," would allow teams to pick one at-bat per game to use their best hitter, no matter where they are in the lineup.
Glasnow, who joined the Dodgers in a trade from the Tampa Bay Rays during the offseason, said he can see both sides of the coin when it comes to the rule.
"It sounds intriguing," Glasnow said on "The Chris Rose Rotation" podcast. "Baseball is steeped in tradition. There have been some rule changes, but you worry that maybe you don't want to make too many changes too quickly. But the other part of me thinks it's kind of fun."
Two of Glasnow's Dodgers teammates have already spoken out against the rule. Pitchers Jack Flaherty and Blake Treinen both said they don't like the idea of it being implemented.
After the negative reactions to the rule, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred Jr. said it is far from becoming a reality.
