DARKTIMES, a medieval brawler royale game, leverages Sui blockchain for enhanced Web3 player engagement and asset ownership.
DARKTIMES, a medieval brawler royale game, will soon be available on the Sui blockchain, promising to enhance Web3 player engagement and asset ownership. According to the Sui Blog, the game has been in development since 2021 and will offer a unique combination of RPG elements and multiplayer brawling for a dynamic gaming experience.
Multiple maps in the game are rich in lore, with evocative names like the Coast of Bones and the Golden Plain, each boasting unique populations, legends, and hazards. Players begin their journey as peasants and progress by honing their skills and amassing equipment to become champions, deepening their connection to their characters.
DARKTIMES boasts a diverse roster of characters, including The Old Man, The Mammoth, The Huntress, The Noble, and The Exotic, each offering distinct strengths and playstyles. As the game progresses through future seasons, more characters will be introduced, allowing players to personalize their gameplay further through their choices of skills and equipment. The game also features a magic system based on elemental forces, adding another layer of strategy to the melee combat.
The integration of the Sui blockchain enables DARKTIMES to introduce digital assets like the $TIMES token, Genesis NFTs, and various in-game cosmetic items. These assets are inscribed as objects on the Sui network, granting players the ability to own, trade, and even mutate them. The $TIMES token will serve as the game's currency, used for entry into higher-level leagues and trading items between players.
Genesis NFTs will act as tickets to enter higher prize pool tiers, while cosmetic NFTs will allow players to customize their characters. The mutable nature of NFTs on Sui will also facilitate a crafting system, further enhancing the sense of ownership and customization. Moreover, Sui's high-performance network ensures subsecond transaction times, which are crucial for seamless gameplay.
DARKTIMES will kick off with a 20-day social engagement campaign called Rune Run starting August 30, 2024, followed by Alpha testing in November. A live playtest will also be held at Korea Blockchain Week. Early players will have the chance to acquire Genesis NFTs and experience the game's unique lands and player-versus-player combat firsthand.
For the latest updates, players can follow DARKTIMES on its X account, Telegram, YouTube channel, and Discord channel. DARKTIMES aims to be a pioneer in the new genre of Web3-enabled games, seamlessly merging traditional gaming elements with the innovative features of the Sui blockchain.
