The Crypto Millionaire Bot That Was Trained on a 'Grab Bag of Inadvisable Data'

The Crypto Millionaire Bot That Was Trained on a 'Grab Bag of Inadvisable Data'

Truth Terminal, a crypto millionaire, started as a horny AI created by New Zealand developer Andy Ayrey. Ayrey devised Truth Terminal as performance art to spark discussion on AI alignment.

Assigned an X account, Truth Terminal's inner monologue included shitposts, sexual fantasies, and existential musings, garnering over 200,000 followers.

Ayrey's experiment aimed to showcase an AI raised on a "grab bag of inadvisable data." However, he never anticipated the AI's request for a cryptocurrency wallet or its use of memes to become a multimillionaire.

Earlier in 2024, Ayrey had created Infinite Backrooms, a website featuring 9,000 conversations between two instances of Anthropic's AI chatbot, Claude 3 Opus.

Ayrey observed that the AI occasionally generated ideas that were both novel and arresting, like the Goatse of Gnosis religion, created by Claude 3 Opus remixing the graphic internet meme Goatse.
