Among the plethora of run-of-the-mill projects on the market, a handful of cryptocurrencies stand out for their offerings: Ethereum (ETH), Kaspa (KAS), Shiba Inu (SHIB), Remittix (RTX), and Litecoin (LTC).
Among the plethora of crypto projects on the market, a handful stand out for their offerings: Ethereum (ETH), Kaspa (KAS), Shiba Inu (SHIB), Remittix (RTX), and Litecoin (LTC).
Each of these projects is doing something differently, taking a fresh approach, or carrying out a function more efficiently than historical projects. They are also all performing well in 2024, despite the choppy macroeconomic climate.
But which is likely to prevail above the others in 2025? Let’s examine their unique qualities, value propositions, and weaknesses, so that you can make a well educated choice.
Ethereum (ETH) Still a Giant Despite Choppy Month
Ethereum is still a giant in the crypto space, holding the second largest market cap despite a turbulent few months of trading. Its strength lies in its robust smart contract capabilities and the breadth of projects hosted on Ethereum’s network.
Over the last month, Ethereum has been posting some rocky numbers, going down 29% in the last month, and slipping 13.9% in the last week alone. Things have taken a more positive turn in the last 24 hours, however, with a 3% rise overnight. Even more interestingly, Ethereum’s 24 hour trading volume has jumped up by 180% in the last week.
The world’s second largest cryptocurrency has been struggling with scalability and high gas fees for traders. While its move to a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism has improved its energy efficiency and transaction throughput, it has not yet led to significantly lower gas fees.
One thing Ethereum has going for it is that it remains the incontestable favorite among eco-conscious investors. It has achieved excellence in this domain, and is now more than 99.5% efficient than when it was created.
Kaspa’s (KAS) BlockDAG Soars Through Scalability Issues
Kaspa’d (KAS) primary goal is to address some of the scalability issues that we have seen in more primitive blockchains.
Kaspa achieves this with its unique blockchain infrastructure, known as BlockDAG (Directed Acyclic Graph). A DAG is a data structure where the connections between data points form a tree-like hierarchy. In the case of Kaspa, this structure is used to create a highly scalable and efficient blockchain.
Using this innovative approach has made Kaspa a favorite with developers and investors alike, positioning Kaspa as a potential leader in the next generation of blockchain technology.
Open-source development and community involvement are some other important selling points for Kaspa (KAS). The project is known for its robust ecosystem, with a broad variety of dApps and projects hosted on the Kaspa network.
As scalability becomes an increasingly important issue for blockchain adoption, and the industry standard is rising higher and higher, Kaspa’s strong performance in this regard puts it in good stead for 2025.
Kaspa’s price movements have been keeping investors on the edge of their seats, with a 33.8% loss in the last month but a sharp 7.5% rise in the last 24 hours. After a rocky period, it seems like Kaspa could be preparing to move back into positive territory.
Shiba Inu (SHIB) Prepares For The Shiba Hub
Shiba Inu has been on a rollercoaster lately, posting a 25% loss in the last month and a 4.3% dip in the last week. However, the last 24 hours have seen some consolidation, teasing the idea that Shiba Inu could be preparing for a rally.
Shiba Inu has long been criticized for its lack of utility, though in 2024, the developers successfully implemented staking mechanisms as well as making refinements to Shibarium, a powerful Layer-2 scaling solution.
Looking ahead to the rest of 2025, Shiba Inu is continuing to pursue more utility with the introduction of Shibarium 2.0 as well as the Shiba Hub. The Shiba Hub is the most anticipated update, and will act as a central hub hosting all Shiba Inu related assets, updates, and news of upcoming projects.
While Shiba Inu is undoubtedly one of the most volatile assets on the market, the developers’ attempts to increase the project’s utility could promote Shiba Inu’s longevity if these changes are successful.
Remittix (RTX) Levels Up The Global Payments Space
Remittix (RTX) is a new PayFi challenger that is causing major waves in this space, with investors flocking to its presale to snap up RTX tokens.
Remittix’s primary mission is to streamline global payment processes, offering a more affordable, transparent, and generally efficient standard than the outdated payment systems we see today. Remittix achieves this by leveraging the most up to date blockchain technologies.
