Crypto Exchanges and Tech Giants Pledge Record $200 Million to Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee

Dec 21, 2024 at 12:57 pm

Cryptocurrency exchanges Ripple, Coinbase, Kraken, and DeFi protocol Ondo Finance each has announced to donate $1 million to the Trump-Vance inaugural committee, fueling excitement for the upcoming inauguration festivities.

Major cryptocurrency exchanges and protocols, including Ripple, Coinbase, Kraken, and Ondo Finance, have each announced seven-figure donations to the Trump-Vance inaugural committee.

The three-day celebration, centered around Donald Trump and VP-elect J.D. Vance’s January 20 swearing-in, has drawn substantial contributions from the crypto industry.

As reported by FOX Business, Ripple pledged $5 million in XRP tokens, while Coinbase, Ondo, and Kraken confirmed their $1 million donations. MoonPay also plans to contribute but has yet to disclose an amount.

Coinbase’s VP of U.S. Policy, Kara Calvert, stated that the company supports the Trump administration’s efforts to establish clear cryptocurrency regulations. Kraken’s co-CEO, Arjun Sethi, expressed optimism, highlighting Trump’s pro-crypto stance as a potential game-changer for the industry.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse praised Trump’s crypto-friendly appointments, including Paul Atkins as SEC Chair and David Sacks as the first crypto and AI “czar.” The Trump administration has also nominated several crypto advocates for key roles, indicating a shift in regulatory priorities.

notably, big tech executives, including Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Sam Altman, have each donated $1 million, and several met with Trump to strengthen ties. Among them, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev announced a $2 million contribution, marking a new alignment between tech leaders and the administration.

The Trump-Vance inaugural committee has already secured a record-breaking $200 million, surpassing previous inaugural fundraising endeavors. Sources anticipate the total to reach $225 million by Inauguration Day, showcasing broad support for the incoming administration.

As Trump expressed support for crypto innovation and vowed to appoint industry-friendly regulators, the cryptocurrency sector anticipates a favorable outlook under his leadership. The donations highlight the crypto industry’s optimism as the inauguration approaches, signaling their confidence in a new era of regulatory clarity.
