Coinbase Visa Debit Card Expands Crypto Currency Support, Adding XRP and Four Others

London, United Kingdom - November 14, 2019 - Coinbase, the leading cryptocurrency exchange, has announced the addition of five new cryptocurrencies to its Visa debit card. The expansion includes support for XRP, Brave browser's Basic Attention Token (BAT), Augur (REP), Stellar (XLM), and 0x (ZRX).

The Coinbase Card, launched in April, allows users in the United Kingdom and European Union to spend their cryptocurrencies directly from their Coinbase accounts. It currently supports Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and Litecoin (LTC).

"Since its launch earlier this year, the Coinbase Card has enabled tens of thousands of users to spend their crypto as easily as the money in their bank accounts," said JD Millwood, Head of Marketing at Coinbase UK. "With the holiday season approaching, we anticipate an even greater demand for the Coinbase Card."

In addition to the new currency support, Coinbase has expanded the card's availability to ten new countries in Europe, bringing the total to 29. The newly supported countries are Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Hungary, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Poland, Romania, and Sweden.

The Coinbase Card is part of the company's broader efforts to make cryptocurrency more accessible and convenient for everyday use. The card eliminates the need for users to convert their cryptocurrencies into fiat currency before spending them.

"We are committed to making it as easy as possible for people to spend their crypto," said Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong. "The Coinbase Card is a key part of that strategy, and we are thrilled to add support for these new currencies."

The addition of XRP and the other four cryptocurrencies significantly expands the utility of the Coinbase Card. XRP, the third-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, is widely used for cross-border payments and remittances. BAT is a utility token that rewards users for their attention on the Brave browser. REP is the native token of the Augur prediction market platform. XLM is a cryptocurrency designed for fast, low-cost payments. ZRX is a token that is used to facilitate decentralized exchange trading.

With this latest expansion, Coinbase is further solidifying its position as a leader in the cryptocurrency industry. The company's commitment to innovation and accessibility is making it easier for people around the world to use and spend cryptocurrency in a seamless and convenient manner.
