Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong Considers the Newly Proposed Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E.) a Lifetime Opportunity to Increase Economic Freedom in the U.S. and Cut the Size of Government Back to Health

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong (NYSE:COIN) is considering the newly proposed Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E.) a lifetime opportunity to increase economic freedom in the U.S. and cut the size of government back to health.

In a recent post on X, Armstrong highlighted the potential benefits of D.O.G.E., noting how it would reverse the adverse effects of incentives that grow the size of democratic governments over time.

Citing Milton Friedman, the famous American economist and statistician, Armstrong noted that the government could limit its functions to the courts, police, and the military. That way, the government’s responsibility would be to enforce contracts and settle disputes, keep the peace at home, and defend the nation.

President-elect Donald Trump recently announced the creation of D.O.G.E. as an advisory commission led by billionaire entrepreneurs Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. The incoming president clarified that instituting the commission is to cut public spending, leaving analysts and most of the U.S. people wondering the extent of the powers available to Musk and Ramaswamy in carrying out the task.

Hinting at their duties, Ramaswamy said during a recent event that Musk and himself are in a position to start the “mass deportations of millions of unelected federal bureaucrats out of the D.C. bureaucracy.” The appointee’s statement suggests they will trim the government by removing whatever offices they consider unnecessary in running the incoming administration.

Creating the D.O.G.E. marks one of the early fulfillments of Donald Trump’s campaign promises. The incoming president told his supporters he would slash government spending as part of a planned economic reform.
