COIN Lead Singer Chase Lawrence Announces Band Breakup After Guitarist and Drummer Departures

COIN lead singer, Chase Lawrence, announced on Instagram on Tuesday that he and guitarist Joe Memmel, would be parting ways.
COIN lead singer Chase Lawrence announced the band's breakup on Instagram Tuesday.

"After careful consideration, I've decided to part ways with Joe (guitar) and Ryan (drums)," Lawrence wrote in the post. "This decision stems from my belief in accountability and doing what's right. The actions of my bandmates directly conflict with my values, and I have sympathy for anyone who has been affected by such actions."
The announcement comes 11 days after Lawrence revealed that Winnen had left the band in November 2024. At the time, the band said a new drummer would join them to complete their 2025 North American tour, which was set to resume Feb. 8 in Denver.

"We appreciate your understanding and support as we navigate this transition," the band wrote Jan. 17. "This will be the first time we hit the road without a founding member, and we're excited to have you experience this new chapter of COIN with us."
COIN formed in 2012 when Lawrence, Memmel and Winnen were students at Belmont University in Nashville. They gained popularity with their singles "Talk Too Much" and "Chapstick." The band's bassist, Zachary Dyke, left the group in 2018.
No official statements or evidence have emerged regarding the misconduct allegations against Winnen and Memmel. However, rumors have been circulating around social media since Winnen's departure announcement, leaving fans confused and upset.
nine years of loving coin and my heart just shattered into a million pieces. after hearing everything over the past few weeks i figured this would happen but it doesn’t mean it hurts any less. this was the painful but necessary move. pic.twitter.com/YAlkNfkPb8
Fans will no longer have the opportunity to see the band perform live, which has left many disappointed.

COIN broke up and I am HURT Adding them to the list of concerts I’ll never get to witness right next to Queen and Mac Miller
"To our listeners, I am sorry for the disappointment this may bring," Lawrence wrote in the Instagram post. "Your support has meant the world to me, and I owe it to you to be honest and decisive in addressing this situation. I'm not done making music yet, and I have deep regret for the way things have unfolded."
Anyone who purchased tickets for COIN's 2025 North American tour will receive refunds.
