An artist from North Carolina named Philip Banks is the creator of the well-known “Chill Guy” meme. With 20,000 and 60,000 followers on Instagram and X, respectively, Banks has a sizable social media presence.
The adorable dog character in the “Chill Guy” meme, which Banks created, is dressed in a sweater, blue jeans, and sneakers like a human.

During a Q&A session in October 2023, Philip described the character as being carefree and laid-back.
“Chill Guy” meme has now become massively popular, spreading virally from its humble beginnings as an artwork posted on X.

It has entered the cryptocurrency world as a meme coin, and in just a few days, it has seen a price increase of over 538%.
The meme coin is called CHILLGUY and has the dog character's face on it, much like the meme coin DOGE, and it has already seen a price increase of more than $400 million.
The “Chill Guy” meme has also been used in social media marketing campaigns by companies including Sprite Europe, March Madness, and NFL on CBS.
The creator of the “Chill Guy” meme is now going to enforce copyright on the image.
On November 21, Banks wrote on X, “Just putting it out there, chill guy has been copyrighted. Like, legally. I’ll be issuing takedowns on for-profit related things over the next few days.”

Banks also made it clear that he won't let his creation be used for anything crypto-related.
