A new meme coin, inspired by a popular character, is making waves in the crypto world.
With a market cap skyrocketing past $405 million, it recently got a shoutout during a Fox News segment by crypto investor Charlene Woods.
“Bitcoin, PEPE, $CHILLGUY and Solana are all very good investments,” a woman claimed on air, adding that she plans to keep buying in to pump her bags even higher.
But not everyone’s on board with the hype. Phillip Banks, the artist behind the original meme, is taking steps to copyright the character—and he’s not thrilled about its association with crypto.
“I do not, and will never, endorse or condone any crypto-related projects involving my work,” he stated firmly.
Still, crypto doesn’t exactly wait for permission. Communities are rallying behind $CHILLGUY, aiming for it to hit a $1 billion market cap, showing once again that the power of memes—and money—belongs to the people.
