The company said its aim is to help the sports industry's transition to web3, but also to democratise access "ensuring that all the industry stakeholders and not just the elite professional brands can benefit from the multiple opportunities that the new iteration of the Internet will unlock."
Blockchain project Chiliz Group has launched Chiliz Includ3d, a new arm of the group that will aggregate its various social impact initiatives.
The company said its aim is to help the sports industry’s transition to Web3, but also to democratise access “ensuring that all the industry stakeholders and not just the elite professional brands can benefit from the multiple opportunities that the new iteration of the Internet will unlock.”
The first programme to launch under the Chiliz Includ3d umbrella is the Includ3d Accelerator, which kicks off in October 2024. Its purpose is to democratize learning about Web3 for a diverse array of stakeholders within the global sports ecosystem, especially community sport, women’s sport, and social impact organizations.
By using Chiliz’s tech infrastructure and Web3 ecosystem, the company said it aims to create a more equitable playing field in sports and contribute to a sustainable future – in essence promoting inclusion in and access to blockchain.
The announcement was made during a special networking event hosted by Chiliz on the second day of the 2024 World Football Summit.
At present, the Maltese company has ongoing partnerships with Ligue1 and La Liga, the latter of which was inked earlier this month. On top of this, Chiliz’s socios.com Fan Token-based business has long-standing deals with some of Europe’s elite including Manchester City, FC Barcelona, PSG, Napoli and Inter Milan.
James Newman, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer for Chiliz, said: “At Chiliz, we envision web3 ushering in a new sports industry, creating enhanced opportunities for brands and fans alike. Our mission is to spearhead this transition, ensuring benefits reach all stakeholders, not just elite brands. Chiliz Includ3d, with Includ3d Accelerator as a first step, aims to empower organisations with limited financial resources, marking an exciting move towards a more inclusive sports ecosystem.”
