Cardano's founder, Charles Hoskinson, recently reacted to a new gaming proposal within Project Catalyst, a hub for community innovation.
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson couldn't help but react humorously to a new gaming proposal within Project Catalyst, a hub for community innovation. The proposal, put forward by Pierre Aceituno, outlines the development of Herd, a decentralized music and DJ battle game. This game aims to integrate blockchain technology, NFTs, and community governance.
The game allows players to mix sound packs in real time as they engage in DJ battles that are streamed live on Twitch. Interestingly, players can also compete against AI and earn rewards through active participation in the community. The game also leverages the potential of NFTs, enabling artists to monetize their work by creating sound packs. In addition, artists will receive royalties from in-game transactions and secondary market sales, which could help to promote sustainable revenue streams for creators.
In a recent social media post from Input Output CTO Romain Pellerin, Hoskinson amusingly reacted to the ambitious project. He posted a gif with the remark, “He’s gone mad with power,” highlighting his amusement at the bold vision Aceituno presented.
Herd also features a dual-token economy, with a stable utility token used for purchasing in-game assets and entering tournaments. Meanwhile, the governance token empowers players to vote on decisions related to treasury allocation and future game development.
The proposal also plans to establish a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) in Japan. This DAO will manage the intellectual property, oversee the Herd project's development, and govern the treasury. This structure aims to distribute rewards to players and artists while ensuring effective project management and sustainability.
Coming to the technical framework and partnerships, the Herd project will integrate with Midnight for NFT management and privacy features. The launch of Herd is dependent on the successful launch of the Midnight mainnet, though an alternative plan for the Cardano mainnet is also being considered.
Partnerships with community projects like HOSKY Token and NMKR are crucial for driving early adoption and enhancing visibility. The integration of the Paima Engine will facilitate seamless blockchain interactions, and the Herd team will collaborate with HOSKY to create flagship sound packs essential for the game's success.
