CFX Strengthens Indonesian Crypto Market by Licensing Exchanges
Apr 08, 2024 at 11:38 pm
PT Bursa Komoditi Nusantara (CFX), the Indonesian national crypto bourse, has registered 35 prospective crypto exchanges, with four (PINTU, PLUANG, Kripto Maksima, TOKOCRYPTO) receiving SPAB approvals. These exchanges account for over 50% of Indonesia's crypto trading volume, which saw a 113% increase in the first two months of 2024. CFX encourages unregistered crypto companies to complete the process to adhere to industry standards and Indonesian regulations, aligning with CFX's mission of fostering a secure and well-regulated crypto ecosystem.

CFX Strengthens Indonesian Crypto Ecosystem, Welcomes Licensed Exchanges
Jakarta, Indonesia - April 8th, 2024 - PT Bursa Komoditi Nusantara (CFX), the inaugural national Indonesian crypto bourse, continues to pave the way for a robust domestic cryptocurrency ecosystem. To date, 35 prospective crypto exchanges have registered with The Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti).
To operate legally in Indonesia, crypto exchanges must obtain a Member Approval Letter (SPAB) from CFX. Four prominent crypto exchanges, PT Pintu Kemana Saja (PINTU), PT Bumi Santosa Cemerlang (PLUANG), PT Kripto Maksima Koin (Kripto Maksima - GOTO Group), and PT Aset Digital Berkat (TOKOCRYPTO), have already received their SPAB approvals from CFX.
"These four licensed exchanges account for over 50% of Indonesia's total crypto trading volume," said CFX President Director Subani. "Bappebti data indicates a remarkable surge in overall transactions, reaching IDR 55.26 trillion (approximately USD 3.7 billion) for the January-February 2024 period, representing an impressive 113% increase compared to the IDR 25.94 trillion recorded in the same period last year."
Subani emphasized the importance of completing the registration process for all remaining crypto companies. "Becoming a regulated crypto exchange demonstrates a commitment to surpassing industry standards and adhering to Indonesian regulations," he stated. "This aligns with CFX's mission to foster a secure and well-regulated crypto ecosystem in Indonesia."
Regulatory oversight is tightening in Indonesia's crypto industry. Bappebti Regulation No. 8 of 2021, amended by No. 13 of 2022, requires crypto traders to promptly apply for a Physical Crypto Asset Trader license. This license requires approval from CFX (SPAB) and fulfillment of Bappebti's requirements, transitioning applicants from "Prospective" to licensed "Physical" Crypto Asset Traders.
Indonesia's establishment of CFX marked a significant milestone as the world's first official crypto bourse. Established in July 2023 by the Ministry of Trade Indonesia (Kemendag) and Bappebti, CFX is dedicated to enhancing security and stability within Indonesia's crypto market. Designed akin to traditional stock exchanges like NASDAQ, CFX focuses exclusively on cryptocurrency trading. This innovative platform underscores Indonesia's commitment to fostering a safer environment for investors and businesses in the crypto sphere.
"Robust regulations are indispensable for the future of Indonesia's crypto industry," Subani asserted. "CFX is steadfastly committed to collaborating with Bappebti and other stakeholders to cultivate a secure, transparent, and reliable environment for cryptocurrency. As a crypto bourse, we wholeheartedly support Bappebti's unwavering emphasis on consumer protection."
