Cathie Wood Promises to Migrate Ark Invest Funds to Blockchain Platforms
Mar 20, 2025 at 03:00 am
Wood has expressed confidence in the potential of tokenization and plans to move Ark's Venture Fund (ARKVX) and Digital Asset Revolution Fund on-chain.
Cathie Wood, the CEO of Ark Invest, has expressed her interest in transferring the company's funds to blockchain platforms when regulations permit, according to a report by Benzinga. During the Digital Asset Summit in New York, Wood discussed her plans to tokenize Ark's Venture Fund (ARKVX) and Digital Asset Revolution Fund on-chain.
These plans are contingent upon legal guidelines becoming clear, paving the way for tokenization initiatives.
"We're planning to put our Venture Fund and Digital Asset Revolution Fund on-chain when the legal framework allows for it," she stated.
Aiming to capitalize on the anticipated expansion of tokenized assets, which experts predict could reach a trillion-dollar market by 2030, Wood expressed her optimism despite the lack of a clear regulatory framework from U.S. authorities.
"I think this is a great time to be thinking about and planning for tokenization. We're going to get there. The institutions are thinking about it, and we're getting close," she added.
As part of her remarks, Wood also provided an update on Ark's cryptocurrency investments, highlighting their focus on long-term innovation and predictions of market growth.
Known for her bullish view on Bitcoin's price potential, which she sees reaching $1.5 million by 2030, Wood's firm recently made headlines with a large BTC purchase.
Earlier this year, Ark Invest bought 997 Bitcoin for approximately $80 million through the Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN) platform in a move that had been anticipated by market watchers. The company continues to adjust its Crypto strategy aiming to expand its market position.
In addition to its Bitcoin holdings and moves into Coinbase, Ark Invest also owns 64,358 shares of the exchange which had an estimated total value of $11.53 million.
The value of Coinbase shares held by Ark Invest continues to increase. As of March 18, 2025, Ark Invest owned more than 2 million shares of Coinbase which had a total market value of about $392.63 million.
Bitcoin, in particular, holds a crucial position in Ark's portfolio, with the company's existing crypto holdings exceeding 48,000 BTC, valued at over $4 billion.
While Ark Invest has displayed a bullish sentiment for Bitcoin, notably absent from Wood's comments were any mentions of meme coins, which she previously warned investors to stay away from.
During a discussion on investing in the metaverse, Wood cautioned investors against engaging in meme coin ventures, stating that their nature renders them an unsustainable investment class.
With the lack of SEC regulation on meme assets a pressing concern, highlighting investor safety is crucial.
