Cartesi and EigenLayer Join Forces to Accelerate Web3 Adoption

Cartesi and EigenLayer, two decentralized technology powerhouses, are joining forces to create more significant inroads with the technology. They will combine Cartesi’s Linux-based rollups with EigenLayer’s Ethereum restaking protocol. This alliance will provide developers with better tools for building next-level decentralized applications (dApps). These tools will support scale, security, and seamless coexistence with traditional software.

Together, Cartesi and EigenLayer are setting the stage for a new era of Web3 innovation, where decentralized applications can reach their full potential and drive mainstream adoption.

About Cartesi and EigenLayer

Cartesi is a decentralized computing network that aims to bring Web2-like capabilities to Web3. Its Linux Coprocessor allows developers to use familiar languages and tools to build scalable and secure dApps.

EigenLayer, on the other hand, is a decentralized restaking protocol that enables Ethereum validators to extend their security guarantees into new networks and services. It is designed on top of existing staking infrastructure, avoiding the need for separate developer-specific validator networks.

Collaboration Details

As part of the collaboration, Cartesi and EigenLayer will host an internal hackathon called Experiment Week #3 from February 10-17, exclusively. This will allow the core protocol developers to prototype dApps focused on real-world applications for mainstream adoption.

The first two Experiment Weeks were dedicated to exploring the possibilities of Cartesi’s technology. With EigenLayer joining the initiative, the teams will now be able to integrate both protocols and showcase use cases that span multiple decentralized networks.

“I was thrilled by this edition,” said Felipe Argento, Co-founder and Advisor at Cartesi. “Previous editions were already a success, but this one is going to be more powerful, with EigenLayer on board.”

According to Nader Dabit, Director of Developer Advocacy at EigenLayer, the Cartesi Linux-powered rollups enable way more complex applications on-chain.

“EigenLayer’s restaking abilities will enable Web3 builders to participate in a marketplace for trust, making new applications less friction to get into. No longer must individual developers secure their networks but can instead use EigenLayer’s Cryptoeconomic Security as a Service to speedily launch and secure blockchain-based solutions.”

Promising Applications

This collaboration promises to advance several key applications in the Web3 domain.

One promising application is scaling decentralized AI. Both Cartesi and EigenLayer have expressed interest in exploring this use case. The Coprocessor of Cartesi can be used to execute AI models off-chain, while EigenLayer can provide the necessary security guarantees for multiple decentralized networks.

Together, they can enable developers to build AI-powered dApps that are scalable, secure, and fully decentralized.

Another application that could benefit from this collaboration is decentralized social networks. EigenLayer can be used to secure blockchain-based social networks, while Cartesi can enable the execution of complex decentralized social logic off-chain.

This combination could lead to the creation of decentralized social networks that are scalable, user-friendly, and fully Web3-native.

Overall, this collaboration is a significant step forward in the effort to make decentralized applications more accessible and practical for developers and users. Combined, Cartesi and EigenLayer are defining how infrastructure protocols should operate together to advance Web3 innovation and adoption.
