Cardano Dominates Developer Engagement, but Internet Computer Surprises

Mar 26, 2024 at 12:49 am

Cardano (ADA) has emerged as the most actively developing crypto blockchain, surpassing Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other prominent networks in developer engagement, according to data from IntoTheBlock. Cardano's cumulative developer contributions have surpassed 450k commits, outpacing Ethereum's 442k. However, recent data from Crypto Metheus ranks Internet Computer (ICP) above Cardano in developer engagements over the past year, with 23,742 GitHub commits compared to Cardano's 23,248.

Cardano Dominates Developer Engagement, but Internet Computer Surprises

Is Cardano the Crypto King of Developer Engagement?

Hey there, folks. Heard the latest buzz on the blockchain block? Data from IntoTheBlock, the market intelligence wizards, is painting a pretty picture for Cardano (ADA). They're saying it's the most active blockchain out there when it comes to developer engagement.

Cardano Outmuscles the Heavyweights

IntoTheBlock's got the stats to back it up. Cardano's leaving Bitcoin (BTC), Dogecoin (DOGE), Avalanche (AVAX), Algorand (ALGO), and Tron (TRX) in the dust. Even Ethereum, the big kahuna of smart contract networks, can't keep up.

Commits on the Rise

Check out the chart they posted. Cardano's cumulative developer contributions are soaring past the 450k commits mark. That's a lot of code, folks. Ethereum's devs are trailing behind with just under 442k commits. Avalanche (AVAX) is hanging in there with over 162k commits.

Internet Computer Stealing the Show?

But hold your horses. Data from Crypto Metheus is throwing a curveball. They're saying Internet Computer (ICP) actually beat out Cardano in developer engagement over the past year. ICP apparently leads with over 23,000 GitHub commits across 80 core repositories since 2023.

Cardano Still a Contender

Cardano's not giving up without a fight, though. They're close behind with over 23,000 GitHub commits across 550 core repositories during the same period. And in the last seven days alone, 55 core developers have pushed 248 commits across 55 core repositories on GitHub for Cardano.

A Dip in Activity?

While Cardano's still the champ, there's been a bit of a dip in activity on a weekly and monthly basis. The number of individual developers involved has dropped by about 43% compared to the previous month. And they've made about 52% fewer commit contributions during the week.

Behind the Scenes of Cardano

What's driving all this development? Well, Cardano Wallet, Hydra, Mithril, Catalyst, Marlowe, Cardano Ledger, and Plutus are some of the top repositories contributing to Cardano's growth.

Price Impact

All this developer activity is giving ADA, Cardano's native token, a nice boost. It's seen an impressive 80% price increase since last year, hitting $0.6407.

So, is Cardano the crypto king of developer engagement? It's got the stats, but it's not without competition. Keep an eye on ICP and the rest of the blockchain crew as they battle it out for developer supremacy.
