In a surprising shake-up of the blockchain landscape, Binance-linked BNB Chain has surged past Solana in daily fees, securing the top spot among all blockchains
Binance-linked BNB Chain has surged past Solana in daily fees to secure the top spot among all blockchains, according to fresh data from Nansen.
On February 13, BNB Chain generated over $5.8 million in daily fees, significantly outpacing Solana’s $3.3 million and eclipsing Ethereum by more than fivefold.
This marks the first instance since Halloween 2024, when Bitcoin briefly led the industry, that a blockchain other than Ethereum or Solana has claimed the top position in daily fees.
The surge in BNB Chain’s activity can largely be attributed to the performance of PancakeSwap, a multi-chain decentralized exchange (DEX), which dominates trading volume on BNB Chain.
On the same day, PancakeSwap outperformed all other DEXs across all chains in trading volume, solidifying BNB Chain’s position at the forefront of blockchain revenue generation. The platform’s ability to attract significant user activity has been a major factor behind BNB Chain’s growing dominance in the DeFi sector.
Adding to the buzz, Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) unintentionally sparked a memecoin frenzy on the eve of Valentine’s Day. When CZ revealed that his Belgian Malinois dog is named Broccoli, it led to a wave of Broccoli-themed memecoins flooding the market. However, Zhao quickly clarified that he had no intention of launching any memecoins himself.
BNB Chain’s ability to surpass Ethereum and Solana in daily fees underscores its growing influence in the blockchain space. With PancakeSwap’s continued dominance and increasing user adoption, the Binance-backed network is solidifying itself as a powerhouse in the DeFi and blockchain industry.
Stay tuned for more updates as BNB Chain continues to reshape the competitive landscape of decentralized networks.
