BlackRock’s BUIDL Fund Reaches $1 Billion in Tokenized Assets
Mar 14, 2025 at 05:11 pm
BlackRock's USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund, known on-chain as BUIDL, reached $1 billion in tokenized assets as of March 2025, per data from rwa.xyz.
BlackRock’s USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund, recognized on-chain as BUIDL, has reached $1 billion in tokenized assets, according to data from rwa.xyz.
The fund, which is launched through Securitize’s digital issuance platform, mainly invests in U.S. Treasury debt and bank deposits in USD, targeting U.S. qualified purchasers. It provides an APY of roughly 4.5% and is managed at fees in the range of 0.20% to 0.50%.
As of March 13, the fund has 61 holders, showcasing an 19.6% increase in the past month despite recent selloffs in broader digital asset markets. While monthly active addresses dropped slightly to 19, the total monthly transfer volume surged to over $269 million, suggesting substantial institutional engagement in token transfers.
The majority of the fund’s tokens, approximately 825 million, are hosted on Ethereum, with smaller allocations also present on Avalanche (AVAX), Aptos (APT), Polygon (MATIC), Optimism (OP), and Arbitrum networks. This multi-chain approach by BlackRock for asset distribution is noteworthy.
The significant portion of the fund’s tokens on Ethereum, with two largest holders having around $267 million in combined token value, highlights the continued preference among institutional investors for Ethereum-based tokenization.
The recent surge in Tokenization of RWAs
The total on-chain value of the world’s largest tokenized real-world assets has surged to $18.34 billion, an increase of over 18% in 30 days.
The rapid asset growth within BlackRock’s BUIDL fund parallels broader market trends of institutions integrating blockchain-based instruments to optimize liquidity and yield, utilizing blockchain efficiencies to streamline traditional treasury management.
BlackRock’s BUIDL crossing the $1 billion threshold is a milestone, and the broader adoption of on-chain U.S. Treasuries and other tokenized financial instruments by institutions indicates a deepening recognition of blockchain as viable infrastructure for traditional asset classes.
This achievement firmly positions BlackRock’s BUIDL fund among the most influential institutional blockchain initiatives.
