Today on the show, we're joined by Daniel Leslie, CTO of Coinsafe Limited, to discuss Bitcoin mining in Australia.

Despite its size, Australia’s mining footprint is still relatively small, with about 100MW of capacity used for Bitcoin mining in total.

A large portion of Australia’s electricity mix is powered by renewables (35-39%), which contributes to price volatility and operational challenges for miners, similar to what we've seen in Texas.

Daniel shares insights on how miners could become crucial assets for balancing the grid by consuming excess renewable energy and acting as “buyers of last resort.”

With abundant natural resources and a secure business environment, Australia could follow Texas's path to becoming a hub for Bitcoin mining.
