Oct 18, 2024 at 10:20 pm

On Thursday, both the spot bitcoin and ethereum ETFs made headway, with the bitcoin funds pulling in the largest inflows.

Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs See Significant Gains on Thursday

Bitcoin (BTC) and ether (ETH) ETFs both saw large inflows on Thursday, as noted by ETF Flows. The 12 bitcoin funds collectively received $470.48 million, while the ether funds scooped up $48.41 million.

Bitcoin ETFs See Heavy Inflows, Blackrock Grabs $309 Mln in a Single Day

The massive inflows into the bitcoin ETFs were led by none other than Blackrock, the world’s largest asset manager. In a single day, Blackrock’s IBIT snagged $309 million. According to ETF tracking data, Blackrock has now seen a total of $22.77 billion in positive inflows. At the time of writing, the IBIT fund holds 380,971 BTC. Trailing behind Blackrock, Ark Invest’s and 21shares’ ARKB attracted $100.2 million, and Grayscale’s GBTC saw $45.7 million. Fidelity’s FBTC collected $11.69 million.

Of the 12 bitcoin funds, seven saw no movement either way. Franklin Templeton’s EZBC brought in $3.88 million. The additional $470 million in inflows brings the total to $20.66 billion since Jan. 11. Throughout the day, about $1.47 billion in bitcoin was traded, and the bitcoin ETFs now hold reserves valued at $64.06 billion. Altogether, the funds control approximately 4.84% of bitcoin’s market capitalization.

Ethereum ETFs Amass $48.41 Mln, Fidelity's FETH Grabs $31.12 Mln

As far as the ether ETFs are concerned, they saw a total of $48.41 million in inflows. Leading the pack was once again Fidelity’s FETH ETF, which gathered $31.12 million. Right behind FETH was Blackrock’s ETHA ETF, which saw inflows of $23.56 million. Grayscale’s ETH Mini Trust also saw inflows, to the tune of $5.13 million. Among the other gainers were 21shares’ CETH ETF, which saw inflows of $2.33 million, and Bitwise’s ETHW ETF, which gathered $1.49 million. Finally, Invesco’s QETH ETF saw inflows of $518,640.

Despite the gains, Grayscale’s ETHE ETF saw outflows of around $15.74 million, which dampened the overall increase. Additionally, both ETHV and EZET had neutral results with no changes to their total holdings. The $48.41 million gain in ether ETF inflows brings the net outflows, since July 23, down to $481.90 million. On Thursday, roughly $126.7 million in ether was traded among the ether ETFs. At press time, the nine ether funds collectively hold $7.18 billion in ETH reserves, or 2.3% of the cryptocurrency’s market cap, according to sosovalue.xyz metrics.
