Bitcoin Creator Satoshi Nakamoto Is Still a Mystery, but His $107 Billion Stash Is Not

Bitcoin Creator Satoshi Nakamoto Is Still a Mystery, but His $107 Billion Stash Is Not

A crypto data platform claims that Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, still holds BTC worth over $107 billion.

Arkham recently added 22,000 Satoshi addresses to its database. These addresses collectively hold 1.096 million BTC.

The platform used Sergio Lerner’s Patoshi Pattern theory to identify blocks that were likely mined by Satoshi.

Lerner’s theory suggests that a single miner mined about 22,000 of the early Bitcoin blocks. He also believes that Satoshi was likely mining during this period.

“There is evidence that links the Patoshi patterns to Satoshi, based on public information sources and the blockchain,” adds Lerner.

If true, these holdings would make Nakamoto the 15th-richest person in the world on paper, ahead of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, according to Forbes’ real-time billionaires list.

Coinbase director Conor Grogan looked into Arkham’s findings and noticed that one of the Patoshi addresses received BTC from Cavirtex, a Canadian exchange.

Grogan also notes that Cavirtex was acquired by Kraken in 2016.

“As such, there is a chance that [Kraken co-founder] Jesse Powell has information on the true identity behind Satoshi, if they maintained any KYC information on this wallet. My advice to him would be to delete the data.”

After Grogan posted his findings on the social media platform X, Kraken’s official account replied “We are all Satoshi.”
