Bitcoin (BTC) Market Cap Dips Amid Broader Cryptocurrency Market Decline Sparked by Global Trade War Fears

Feb 03, 2025 at 11:10 pm

The cryptocurrency market, led by Bitcoin and Ethereum, experienced sharp declines on Monday as escalating global trade tensions created an atmosphere of heightened market uncertainty.

Bitcoin (BTC) Market Cap Dips Amid Broader Cryptocurrency Market Decline Sparked by Global Trade War Fears

Rising trade tensions between the U.S. and several countries, including China, have had a significant impact on the cryptocurrency market. U.S. President Trump has imposed massive tariffs on several countries, sparking concerns that the tariffs could hamper global economic growth and ultimately hurt corporate earnings.

These fears led to a sharp decline in cryptocurrency prices on Monday, with Bitcoin dropping more than 8% and Ethereum losing over 20%. The total cryptocurrency market capitalization also saw a substantial decrease, dropping 11% to around $3 trillion.

However, despite the sharp decline, Bitcoin still managed to hold strong support at around the $90,000 mark, and other major cryptocurrencies experienced a rebound later in the day. This rebound was particularly evident among smaller altcoins, which showed a strong recovery from their lows.

Overall, the cryptocurrency market remained volatile, with traders closely monitoring global economic developments and adjusting their positions accordingly.
