Bitcoin (BTC) is still claiming authority as other new projects, such as Yeti Ouro (YETIO), are grabbing investors attention with bright prospects.
Bitcoin ETFs Remain In Dominant Positions
ETFs for Bitcoin have built an unassailable grip on cryptocurrency investment, now holding virtually 90% of total crypto fund assets under management (AUM). This dominance, cited yesterday by ETF analyst Eric Balchunas, reflects institutional investors’ unshakeable trust in Bitcoin over other cryptocurrencies.
The statistics paint an intriguing picture: Bitcoin ETFs now comprise some $100.59 billion in AUM or 89.46% of the total crypto fund investment. This dominance remains in place in spite of multiple altcoin and meme coin ETFs planned to arrive throughout 2025, indicating a continued preference for Bitcoin’s hallowed status and relative stability.
The data shows that the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (BTC:IVBZ) has the largest AUM at $99.4 billion, followed by the Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BTC:Bिटकॉइन) at $1.2 billion. Both ETFs are actively traded, with the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF experiencing higher trading volume compared to its competitors.
Among the meme coin and altcoin ETFs, the ETC Group's Ethereum ETC Group (LON:ETH) stands out with AUM of $7 billion and a price increase of 3%, while the Avraham A. Nuñez basket ETF (BTC:NBI) has AUM of $5 billion and experienced a 2% price decrease.
Among the index funds and basket funds, the DeFi Index ETF (BTC:DEIX) is noteworthy with AUM of $500 million and a 3% price increase.
The complete lack of interest in other cryptocurrencies is evident as well, with the total AUM for all other cryptocurrencies, including Ethereum, Litecoin, and Stellar, amounting to just $7.05 billion, 5.72% of the total.
