Tokyo-based investment firm Metaplanet said Monday it had acquired an additional 150 bitcoin (BTC) to bring its total holdings to 3350 BTC

Tokyo-based investment firm Metaplanet disclosed on Monday an additional purchase of 150 bitcoin (BTC), incrementally increasing its total bitcoin holdings to 3,350 BTC, valued at approximately $291 million at current market rates.
This purchase comes just days after the company announced the appointment of Eric Trump, son of U.S. President Donald Trump, to its newly formed strategic advisory board.
Trump is expected to bring a high-profile perspective to Metaplanet’s ambitions, which include maximizing shareholder value by buying and holding bitcoin, a strategy's efficiency is measured by BTC Yield.
BTC Yield tracks the percentage change in the amount of Bitcoin they own compared to the total number of shares, over a specific period.
In the July to September 2024 quarter, their BTC Yield was 41.7%, indicating a consistent growth in bitcoin holdings relative to shares. However, in the October to December 2024 quarter, it soared to 309.8% as they significantly increased their bitcoin stash while its price experienced a rally.
So far in 2025, from January 1 to March 24, they have achieved a BTC Yield of 68.3%, as per Monday’s documents.
