Bitcoin billionaire and F2Pool co-founder Chun Wang is set to embark on a groundbreaking space mission on Monday.

An incredible journey is set to unfold on Monday evening as F2Pool co-founder and Bitcoin billionaire Chun Wang prepares to blast off on a SpaceX Crew Dragon flight. Joining three other first-time astronauts, Wang will be launching from Florida at 9:46 p.m. ET for a unique mission dubbed “Fram2.”
This flight marks a historical moment as it will be the inaugural human spaceflight to complete a flight over the Earth’s poles. Contributed by Wang himself, the four-day expedition is a stepping stone for future, more-advanced and longer-range space exploration.
The Chinese-born entrepreneur, now a citizen of Malta, amassed his wealth through his early involvement in Bitcoin mining. At the height of the cryptocurrency's bullish run in 2021, Wang reportedly owned around 120,000 BTC, valued at an estimated $2.4 billion at the time.
While the exact cost of Wang's contribution to the Fram2 mission is yet to be disclosed, his involvement further illuminates the interesting intersections emerging between the crypto sphere and private space ventures.
During their time in orbit, the Fram2 crew will be carrying out more than 20 science experiments. These experiments aim to capture the first medical X-ray in space for studying microgravity’s effects on bone density, and they will also attempt to grow mushrooms—a potential breakthrough for future food production in space.
Known for his passion for travel, having visited over 130 countries, Wang is also on track to become the first citizen of Malta to reach space. This achievement further cements Wang's legacy in both the blockchain and aerospace industries.
It also showcases how the early cryptocurrency success stories are now rolling over into broader contributions to humanity’s future in the long term. With SpaceX at the forefront of private spaceflight innovation and Bitcoin pioneers like Wang facilitating such missions, Fram2 is a significant step toward expanding human activity in space.
This mission combines cutting-edge technology, scientific inquiry, and private initiative in a historical undertaking that is poised to usher in a new era of space exploration.
