Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the co-founder and former CEO of the cryptocurrency exchange Binance, has embarked on a new venture: the establishment of a non-profit educational organization known as GiggleAcademy. This ambitious project aims to provide free basic education to children globally, from grades 1 to 12.

CZ announced the initiative on Twitter in March 2024, emphasizing that it would be a not-for-profit endeavor with no revenue generation from its educational programs. The organization's concept paper outlines a gamified and adaptive learning approach.

Expanding Educational Access

GiggleAcademy is driven by CZ's belief in the transformative power of education. The project's mission is to ensure that every child has access to quality education regardless of their socioeconomic background. By leveraging the affordability and ubiquity of Android smartphones, CZ aims to make GiggleAcademy accessible to the majority of the world's population.

Gamified Learning Experience

To make learning engaging and enjoyable, GiggleAcademy will incorporate gamification elements into its curriculum. This approach has been proven to enhance student motivation, engagement, and knowledge retention.

Content Production and Team Expansion

The initiative is currently in its early stages of development, with content production already underway. CZ has assembled a team of 10 talented individuals and is actively recruiting to expand the team to 15 members. The team includes educators, game designers, and technology experts.

CZ's Ongoing Legal Proceedings

Despite facing ongoing legal proceedings related to money laundering charges, CZ remains committed to his philanthropic endeavors. He recently pleaded guilty to these charges and is scheduled to be sentenced in April 2024.

Binance-Nigeria Controversy

In a separate development, two Binance executives were arrested in Nigeria in February 2024, accused of facilitating money laundering and contributing to the devaluation of the Nigerian currency. Crypto groups have since rallied to demand the release of the executives.
