Binance's Focus on Meme Coins Has Significantly Impacted the Crypto Market in 2024
Nov 12, 2024 at 01:20 am
Binance has had a significant impact on the crypto market this year by focusing on meme coins, listing 15 new meme coin projects since the beginning of the year.
Binance’s focus on meme coins in 2024 has had a significant impact on the crypto market. With 15 new meme coin projects listed on the exchange since the beginning of the year, these tokens have collectively seen a remarkable surge in market interest.
Now, a closer look at the data reveals some interesting insights into Binance’s approach to meme coin listings and the performance of these tokens post-listing.
Binance Listed 15 Meme Coins in 2024
According to data, Binance has listed 15 meme coins in 2024 so far. These tokens, which have largely gained popularity through community-driven hype and online trends, have now joined the ranks of cryptocurrencies available for trading on the world’s largest crypto exchange.
Of the 15 meme coins listed by Binance this year, 60% are deployed on the Solana network. This aligns with the current dominance of Solana in the meme coin ecosystem, thanks to its low transaction fees and ease of use for deploying new tokens.
Meanwhile, 26.7% of the listed coins are based on Ethereum, with smaller portions hosted on Binance Smart Chain (BSC) and Base. Notably, Binance’s approach to meme coin listings has been relatively cautious, with only 5 of the 15 coins being listed for both spot and futures trading.
All of the meme coins listed this year on Binance have surpassed a market cap of $100 million. The largest market cap belongs to WIF, which currently boasts a valuation of $2.51 billion. On the other end of the spectrum, “Neiro Ethereum” holds the smallest market cap at $102 million.
With 80% of the listed tokens showing significant growth post-listing, Binance’s platform plays a key role in driving up the prices of these tokens.
One interesting trend in this year’s meme coin offerings is the prevalence of “Zoo Series” coins—tokens with animal-themed names and branding. These coins account for more than 80% of the meme projects Binance has listed so far in 2024.
From the rise of BONK, MOG, and MYRO, animal-themed meme coins have captured the attention of crypto communities. These coins often feature unique community initiatives, such as the "Save the Animals" campaign, which aims to raise funds for animal conservation efforts.
