BCH Bliss 2025 to Focus on Velma Upgrade, Adoption

The BCH Bliss 2025 conference is set for May 13-15 this year, seeing devs, users, and supporters of all backgrounds ready to converge

The BCH Bliss 2025 conference will take place from May 13-15 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Attendees will discuss recent developments on Bitcoin Cash, including several important smart contract upgrades that are set to go live in May.

Despite the heavy focus on politics in the cryptosphere at large, which has resulted in limited coverage of technological advancements, several significant upgrades to the Bitcoin Cash network are set to go live in May.

Bitcoin Cash supporters have been actively purchasing non-fungible tokens (NFTs) known as “Velma” to gain access to the BCH Bliss 2025 conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The designation “Velma” serves as a phonetic reference to the upcoming May 2025 upgrade, which pertains to Virtual Machine Limits (VML). Last year's upgrade, which introduced an “Adaptive Blocksize Limit Algorithm,” was playfully integrated into the fictional celebrity persona of “Jessica ABLA.”

BCH Bliss 2025 to highlight Velma upgrade, adoption As previously reported, the Velma upgrade use cases, according to Bitcoin Cash devs, include more advanced automated market making and exchange protocols, decentralized stablecoins, collateralized loan protocols, cross-chain and sidechain bridges and zero-knowledge proofs among other features.

This year's upgrade essentially aims to continue expanding the capabilities that were introduced with the Cashtokens upgrade in 2023, which brought UTXO (unspent transaction output)-based smart contracts and token creation to the Bitcoin Cash network for minimal fees.

This year's conference tickets come in the form of non-fungible “Velma” tokens, which are primarily sold on the BCH tokens marketplace Tapswap. A preliminary list of speakers has been announced, including miners, app developers and other key figures in the BCH ecosystem.

Political sensationalism not deterring development While it's almost impossible to browse the news these days without encountering partisan politics and vapid polemics, important wallet integrations, stablecoin protocols and smart contract features continue to develop under the mass media radar on several crypto networks, including Bitcoin Cash.

For instance, the popular Philippines-based Paytaca Wallet has just announced a feature (still in early alpha mode) that allows users to stabilize their BCH in dollar value at any time within the app, thanks to an integration with BCHBull, a smart-contract based hedging and speculation platform created by Bitcoin Cash developer group General Protocols.

This addition complements recent updates to BCHBull itself and a BCH-based stablecoin experiment called Moria Money.

When asked by Cryptopolitan for their thoughts on the upgrade and Bliss conference, Bitcoin Cash Tokyo Meetup organizer BigV said:
