What If Baker Mayfield Has a Back-to-Back Successful Season?

It would take a monumental fall from grace for the Bucs to move on from Mayfield after just one year of his new contract. And at this stage of his career – and with the success that he had last season – I can't see any of those scenarios happening.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are hoping that Baker Mayfield can lead them to a Super Bowl title in 2024. After acquiring Mayfield in a trade with the Carolina Panthers this offseason, the Bucs are counting on the former No. 1 overall pick to help them get over the hump and win their first championship since 2021.
Mayfield had a successful first season in Tampa Bay, leading the Bucs to a 5-1 record in his six starts. He also threw for 1,000 yards, seven touchdowns, and just one interception during that span. Overall, Mayfield's performance was a stark contrast to his struggles in Carolina, where he was benched after just six games.
Now entering the second and final year of his contract with the Buccaneers, Mayfield will be looking to build on his strong finish in 2023 and help lead Tampa Bay to a deep playoff run in 2024.
