The team behind B3, the open gaming layer 3 network on Base, has officially announced its first AI Game Buildathon, and anyone can join in and participate for a chance at winning up to $5000.
What Is B3’s AI Game Buildathon About?
B3’s first AI Game Buildathon is a game jam where participants try to build a game using AI from March 23rd to March 30th. Successfully doing so could lead to winning up to $5000 USDC.
You don’t need to have any coding experience to participate in this online game jam. That’s because you can now use various AI tools to build games from start to finish. Through this event, B3 aims to show you just how you can do so.
To inspire and encourage gamers to try making their own AI games, the organizer has teamed up with Base, Atari, full-stack web3 development platform Thirdweb, and AI-powered on-chain gaming platform Farcade to host a series of digital workshops to help you get started. Following the initial announcement, 2 new partners were also announced: Rosebud AI and Zora, with both providing access to their own tools to help you easily create your game.
Whether you’re new or experienced in AI-powered game development, anyone is free to join in and try making their own AI gaming experience while potentially earning rewards for doing so. Here’s how you can participate.
How to Participate in B3’s AI Game Buildathon
To participate in B3’s AI Game Buildathon, simply head on over to the registration page linked in the official X announcement and click on the “Request to Join” button to fill in your name and email address in order to confirm your request.
Once you’ve done so, be sure to check out the official documentation linked in this X post to help you get started with building in the B3 gaming ecosystem. The event begins on March 23rd, and you will have time until March 30th to submit your game. Submissions are set to be featured and deployed on the chain’s gaming platform, bsmnt, which is said to have 170k active players enjoying a variety of blockchain gaming experiences. It looks like the “brilliant minds” behind Atari will be judging submissions to determine the winners of this AI-focused game jam.
Next to what seems to be the main prize pool of $5000 USDC, there are opportunities to earn more rewards during the duration of this event. For example, if you share your progress in developing your game by posting updates on X and tagging Blu3 (@bsmntdotfun), Blu3 might reward you with $B3 tokens from a separate prize pool with an unknown quantity. There is also a 2000 $B3 bounty for anyone that develops a MetaMask vs. Rainbow fighter game.
Throughout this Buildathon, all contestants will have free access to Rosebud Pro to help you make games without coding until March 30th. You can also use Zora’s new CoinSDK to help you set up coins “around your characters, games, or anything else you dream up.” Anyone who uses CoinSDK will have a chance of winning additional token rewards, as the top 3 projects that use it could end up getting 400 $OP tokens.
Good luck to everyone participating!
Next to partnering for this game jam, Atari also partnered with B3 to bring classic games like Pong to on-chain gaming. In other Base-related news, Auto Legends received a $1 million investment from Coinbase Ventures' Base Ecosystem Fund.
