Aptos Foundation is set to integrate Tether's (USDT) stablecoin into SK Telecom's web3 product called “T wallet” in a bid to expand access to stablecoins
Aptos (CRYPTO: APT) Foundation announced on Friday a partnership with SK Telecom to integrate Tether’s (CRYPTO: USDT) stablecoin into the T wallet.
The integration, supported by SK Telecom’s PASS app, will enable users to access USDT on the Aptos blockchain with minimal friction, bridging traditional finance with decentralized systems, according to a press release shared with crypto.news.
SK Telecom, the nation’s largest telecom operator, sees the partnership as crucial for mainstream web3.
“Together with key web3 players like Tether, we share a vision to expand access to digital assets and decentralized networks to more people, informed by our decades of telco expertise,” said Oh Sehyeon, vice president of SK Telecom’s web3 division.
The partnership taps into SK Telecom’s extensive customer base of over 30 million, offering T wallet as an entry point for stablecoin usage.
Tether added support for the Aptos Network in mid-August, highlighting the blockchain’s “robust developer community” as a key factor for the expansion.
“The chain has seen a steady increase in deployed contracts, indicative of active and ongoing development,” Tether said at the time.
“This aligns with Tether’s goal to support emerging blockchain ecosystems that prioritize innovation and adoption.”
Also impacting the decision were Aptos’ “extremely low gas fees,” which Tether said makes the network “economically viable for a broader range of use cases, from microtransactions to large-scale enterprise operations.”
