Anthony Scaramucci Slams Trump Meme Coin Launch, Calls It ‘Idi Amin Level Corruption’
Jan 20, 2025 at 02:15 am
Anthony Scaramucci has expressed his disapproval of President-elect Donald Trump‘s newly launched meme coin TRUMP TRUMP/USD, labeling it “corruption.”
Former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci has slammed President-Ape Donald Trump‘s latest grift, the TRUMP meme coin, calling it “corruption.”
On Saturday, Trump announced the launch of his official “$TRUMP” meme coin, which was created by Solana.
The coin has since seen a massive market response, with its price skyrocketing 253.75% in 24 hours, surging from $0.18 to $26.95.
During this time, the coin’s market cap also reached a high of $5.39 billion.
Reacting to the launch of the TRUMP meme coin, Scaramucci slammed the venture on his Twitter account, terming it “corruption” and “bad for the industry.”
The Trump meme coin stuff is bad for the industry. Don't delude yourself. It's Idi Amin level corruption.
This is not the first time Trump has sold merchandise featuring his image.
In the past, he has sold items such as digital trading cards, high-top sneakers, T-shirts, and even Bibles.
His niece, Mary Trump, has previously accused him of “grifting” through the sale of such merchandise.
The meme coin was launched just days before Trump is set to be sworn in as president.
