The U.S. Mint will release a coin this spring that honors Henry Ford’s innovative automotive assembly line.
The $1 American Innovation gold coin will feature the Statue of Liberty on the face and autoworkers assembling what appears to be a Ford Model T on the reverse. The reserve also includes the words “Michigan Auto Assembly Line” at the bottom.
The uncirculated coin will only be available through the Mint. It will initially be sold in 25-coin rolls for $36.25 and 100-coin bags for $123.50. Those who are interested in purchasing the coin can sign up for a reminder here.
The first designs in the American Innovation $1 Coin Program were released in 2018, with four being released each year.
Each coin in the collection showcases innovations or innovators from different states.
The program “symbolizes quintessentially American traits — the willingness to explore, discover, and create your own destiny,” according to the U.S. Mint.
The Michigan innovation coin is one of more than 60 products that are scheduled to be released in 2025 so far.
