Amazon Prime Day 2024 dates: When is it? What is it? What to know

Amazon's 10th Prime Day is just around the corner, and the e-commerce company has tapped Megan Thee Stallion to help usher in the sales event.

The rapper is kicking things off with an original song, “It’s Prime Day,” streaming exclusively on Amazon Music. In the accompanying video, the rapper says she can “change my hobby how I change my men,” as she takes advantage of Prime Day’s member-exclusive deals to become a cosplayer, stylist, lifeguard, gamer and chef.

Megan Thee Stallion's Prime Day picks, inspired by her different interests featured in the music video, are also available for Prime members to shop. The picks include early deals on items from her new Hot Girl Summer tour merchandise collection.

The two-day sale kicks off July 16 and goes through July 17, promising millions of deals across more than 35 categories, including electronics, kitchen, apparel and beauty.

“Prime Day is a celebration of the value we bring to members all year long, and features millions of deals across more than 35 product categories as well as discounts on Amazon Devices, quality entertainment, groceries, travel, and more during the event,” said Jamil Ghani, vice president of Amazon Prime, in a news release.

“In fact, over the course of last year, Amazon customers saved nearly $24 billion from deals and coupons − with Prime members enjoying the vast majority of those savings − including over $2.5 billion during Prime Day 2023,” Ghani added in the news release.

Here's what you need to know about this summer's Prime Day event.

What date and time is Amazon Prime Day?

The upcoming Prime Day officially starts at 12:01 a.m. PDT on July 16 and runs through July 17, but Prime members have access to early savings. Certain brands – including Nordic Track, Poppi Prebiotic Sodas, and Hatch – are already offering deals for the event.

Starting July 8, certain influencers will be dropping deals on various products. Amazon lists Jess Sims, Alyssa McKay, Monet McMichael, Jared McCain, Millie Bobby Brown, Meredith Duxbury and Alix Earle as accounts to keep an eye on.

Other early savings deals include:

Amazon Prime Video deals: Up to 50% off select shows and movies to rent or buy on Prime Video, plus deals on select channels via Prime Video Channels. Crunchyroll, Starz and MGM+ are available for $0.99 each per month for up to two months, and Prime members can get 50% off AMC+ and Paramount+ with Showtime for up to two months.

Amazon device sales: Amazon says it is offering its lowest price ever on select Amazon devices, including Ring Battery Doorbell Plus, Blink Outdoor 4 multi-packs Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen), Kindle Scribe and Eero Max 7 mesh Wi-Fi systems. Shoppers can also save up to 68% on select Amazon devices, including Echo Show 8 (3rd Gen), Fire TV 2-Series, Insignia 50-inch Class F30 Series Smart Fire TV with Alexa Voice Remote, Fire HD 10 tablets, Fire HD 8 Kids, Luna controllers and Amazon Smart Plugs.

Grocery deals: Amazon is offering coupons for $15 off on Amazon Fresh physical store purchases worth at least $75 from June 26 to July 15. Prime customers and shoppers with a registered EBT card who have not previously signed up can get three free months of Amazon’s grocery subscription.

Can you shop Amazon Prime Day without a membership?

The sales event is exclusively for Prime members. Eligible shoppers can sign up for a free 30-day trial before the event to take advantage of the event’s deals.

How much is an Amazon Prime membership?

Amazon Prime costs $14.99 per month, or $139 per year. Subscribing to only Prime Video costs $8.99 per month.

Students and shoppers between the ages of 18 and 24 can sign up for $7.49 per month, or $69 per year.

How to access Amazon Prime Day exclusive deals

Prime members can get up to 40% off Sony Wireless Headphones, up to 30% off the Peloton Original Bike and Bike+, among other deals by requesting an invitation to access invite-only deals.
