AltLayer Launches Native Token Staking to Boost Ecosystem Security

Apr 06, 2024 at 07:25 am

AltLayer has enabled staking of its native tokens (ALT), allowing holders to contribute to the ecosystem's economic security. Launched in January, AltLayer is a rollup-as-a-service protocol enabling developers to create rollups from various software stacks. The ALT token staking launch initiates the deployment of MACH-Alpha, a fast finality service for Layer 2 rollups that will utilize EigenLayer's replenishment mechanism to enhance economic security.

AltLayer Implements Native Token Staking to Strengthen Ecosystem's Security

December 14, 2023

AltLayer, a decentralized protocol facilitating the construction of rollups utilizing software stacks like OP Stack and Arbitrum Stack, has introduced the capability of staking its native ALT tokens. This enables token holders to actively contribute to safeguarding the economic well-being of the AltLayer ecosystem.

The ALT token staking platform was initially launched in January. AltLayer empowers developers by offering a "rollup-as-a-service" framework for creating rollups.

The initiation of ALT token staking marks the commencement of the multifaceted deployment of MACH-Alpha, a service designed to deliver fast finality to Layer 2 rollups. MACH-Alpha will serve as a crucial component in enhancing the security and scalability of Layer 2 solutions.

MACH-Alpha's development incorporates EigenLayer's active validation service (AVS) architecture, capitalizing on its replenishment mechanism to bolster economic security. Notably, MACH-Alpha will assume the role of the first AVS under the revamped rollup architecture, supporting two of the most prominent rollups: OP Mainnet and Arbitrum One.

AltLayer envisions the introduction of "restructured rollups" – Layer 2 projects that leverage EigenLayer's takeover mechanism to establish and maintain network security.

AltLayer actively encourages EigenLayer operators and liquid foodservice providers to actively participate in MACH-Alpha, fostering collaboration and driving progress within the ecosystem.
