Renowned cryptocurrency analyst Michael van de Poppe thinks the crypto market bull run is entering the “Banana Zone.”
Renowned cryptocurrency analyst Michael van de Poppe has provided insight into his approach to altcoin selection and addressed queries regarding his past statements on specific cryptos.
In a recent podcast appearance, Poppe discussed the altcoins he holds in his portfolio, categorizing them into "bigger" and "smaller" sizes based on his expectations for their performance. Among the "big" altcoins, he mentioned Optimism (OP), Celestia (CEL), Bittensor (TAO), and Ethereum Name Service (ENS).
As for the "smaller" altcoins, Poppe's picks include Renzo (REZ), Omni Network (OMNI), Rocket Pool (RPL), and Aevo (AEVO). However, he clarified that he posts about other altcoins, which are part of his company's portfolio but not necessarily in his wallet.
Responding to a follower's question about why he no longer seems to hold Chainlink (LINK), despite promoting it in the past, Poppe explained that older altcoins don't have the same profit potential as newer ones.
While he still believes Chainlink will do well, considering its crucial role in the decentralized finance (DeFi) sector, Popple feels that newer assets will have a higher return during the bull run.
The analyst highlighted LINK's exceptional performance in the previous bull cycle, where the altcoin generated nearly 15,000% in returns. However, he expressed less optimism this time, anticipating that LINK could offer a maximum of 15x returns when the bull run begins.
In comparison, Popple noted that newer altcoins are at a similar stage as LINK was in the previous cycle, presenting the potential for higher profit.
Regarding whether to sell older altcoins to buy newer tokens, Popple stated that it depends on each individual's risk appetite. He noted that older coins could still break their previous all-time highs (ATHs), but the percentage returns would likely be lower, unlike newer crypto assets with less value and a broader frontier of price ranges as their targets.
