AI DApps Record 2.2 Million Unique Active Wallets in January, Poised for Growth: DappRadar

Gaming and decentralized finance (DeFi) applications remained dominant in the decentralized applications (DApp) sector in January, while artificial intelligence applications gained traction, a Feb. 6 report from DappRadar revealed.

According to the report, the daily average number of unique active wallets (UAW) in January reached 26.7 million, marking a 6% decrease compared to December. However, DeFi applications notably expanded their market share during this period.

DeFi applications maintained their position as the leading category in the DApp industry, accounting for 28.1% of all active wallets. Gaming applications followed closely behind with a 27.8% market share.

Meanwhile, non-fungible token (NFT) DApps captured 16.1%, and SocialFi applications recorded a 6.3% share of the market.

Interestingly, AI-powered DApps recorded 2.2 million unique active wallets, which translates to 8.5% of the total DApp market share. DappRadar highlighted AI as a “major growth sector” and a potential catalyst for the next bull market in Web3.

“This is a massive increase compared to other DApp categories, and it might just be the beginning,” the report stated.

AI DApps record 2.2 million unique active wallets in January

January’s figures put AI DApps above the SocialFi category, which had only 6.3% of UAWs.

“Even though the impact and importance of AI in the DApp space has yet to be crystalized, we believe this category is poised to grow further,” DappRadar noted.

Within the AI category, a DApp called “LOL” led the pack, recording an impressive 28.6 million unique active wallets in January. Other notable AI DApps include Dmail Network with 4.9 million and the virtual influencer platform MEET48 with 2.8 million.

AI gains steam in the Web3 landscape

This news comes as researchers from Switzerland-based crypto bank Sygnum Bank identified crypto AI agents as one of the emerging trends set to shape 2025. According to the researchers, interest in AI-related crypto projects has “grown substantially.”

However, despite gaining steam, the researchers highlighted that AI agents still need to “prove their worth,” and the niche remains highly speculative.

Nevertheless, the intersection of Web3 and AI continues to deepen. On Feb. 6, stablecoin issuer Tether announced its venture into AI applications. Speaking on X, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino revealed that the company's AI division is working on an AI translator, voice assistant and Bitcoin ( BTC ) wallet assistant.
