Aether Drifters: A Secret Lair That's All About the Art

Feb 06, 2025 at 03:14 am

Sadly, it seems that not every MTG Secret Lair can be a hit. It seems the new Aether Drifters Secret Lair was determined to prove this point.

Aether Drifters: A Secret Lair That's All About the Art

MTG Secret Lair fans were excited to see a new drop centered around Vehicles. Unfortunately, the Aether Drifters Secret Lair seems to be leaving many fans disappointed. While the aesthetics are certainly interesting, the reprint value is shockingly low. Even foil versions of these cards don’t seem to be able to save this drop from being a financial dud.

Aether Drifters

This Secret Lair drop offers up five Vehicle-related cards that are individually packaged to look like toy cars. The artwork on these cards is certainly the main attraction, and it's clear that a lot of effort went into making them look unique. The cards themselves are also related to the Aetherdrift in some way, which is a nice touch.

Overall, the aesthetics of this Secret Lair drop are great, but the financial value is lacking. The most expensive card in Aether Drifters is a token, and the non-foil version of Mechtitan Core is only worth about a dollar. Even foil versions of Parhelion II and Reckoner Bankbuster are only worth a few dollars each.

The Good

The artwork on these cards is fantastic, and the individual toy car packaging is a unique touch.

The Bad

The reprint value of this Secret Lair is shockingly low, with the majority of the cards being worth less than a dollar each.

The Verdict

If you're a fan of the artwork and don't mind paying a premium for it, then this Secret Lair drop might be worth considering. However, if you're looking for good value reprints, you're better off skipping this one.

The Complete Card List

Mechtitan Core Token

Parhelion II

Reckoner Bankbuster
