How to add the Cosmos Hub mainnet (ATOM) to MetaMask
MetaMask is a popular cryptocurrency wallet that allows users to store, send, and receive a variety of cryptocurrencies. While MetaMask initially only supported Ethereum and ERC-20 tokens, it has since expanded to support other blockchains, including Cosmos.
Cosmos is a proof-of-stake blockchain platform that allows developers to build and deploy their own custom blockchains. The Cosmos Hub is the main network of the Cosmos ecosystem, and it uses the ATOM token as its native currency.
Adding the Cosmos Hub mainnet to MetaMask allows users to store, send, and receive ATOM tokens. It also allows users to interact with other Cosmos-based applications, such as decentralized exchanges and lending platforms.
Requirements
- A MetaMask wallet: If you don't already have a MetaMask wallet, you can download it from the MetaMask website.
- Some ATOM tokens: You will need some ATOM tokens in order to add the Cosmos Hub mainnet to MetaMask. You can purchase ATOM tokens on a cryptocurrency exchange, or you can receive them as a reward for staking your ATOM tokens.
Step-by-step instructions
- Open MetaMask.
- Click on the "Networks" tab.
- Click on the "Add Network" button.
- Enter the following information:
- Network Name: Cosmos Hub
- New RPC URL: https://rpc.cosmos.network
- Chain ID: cosmoshub-4
- Currency Symbol: ATOM
- Block Explorer URL: https://explorer.cosmos.network/
- Click on the "Save" button.
The Cosmos Hub mainnet will now be added to MetaMask. You can now store, send, and receive ATOM tokens, and interact with other Cosmos-based applications.

- You can add multiple networks to MetaMask. This allows you to easily switch between different blockchains and interact with a variety of applications.
