How to Obtain an API Key from KuCoin
KuCoin is a popular cryptocurrency exchange that provides users with an API (Application Programming Interface) to interact with their account and trading activities. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to obtain an API key from KuCoin:
1. Log in to Your KuCoin Account
Visit the KuCoin website and enter your login credentials. If you don't have an account, you'll need to create one before proceeding.
2. Go to API Management
Once you're logged in, hover over your username in the top-right corner and select "API Management" from the dropdown menu.
3. Create a New API Key
Click on the "Create API Key" button.
4. Enter a Label (Optional)
You can provide a label for your API key to help you identify it later. This label is only for your reference and is not required.
5. Select Permissions
Choose the permissions you want to grant to your API key. The following permissions are available:
- Trading: Allows the API key to perform trading operations, such as placing orders and canceling orders.
- Account: Allows the API key to access your account information, such as balances and transaction history.
- Deposit: Allows the API key to create and manage deposit addresses for cryptocurrency deposits.
- Withdrawal: Allows the API key to withdraw funds from your account.
6. Set IP Restrictions (Optional)
For added security, you can restrict the IP addresses that can access your API key. If you leave this field empty, any IP address can access the API key.
7. Generate API Key
Once you've configured the permissions and IP restrictions, click on the "Generate" button.
8. Record the API Key and Secret
KuCoin will generate an API key and a corresponding API secret. The API secret is only displayed once, so ensure you copy and store it securely. You won't be able to retrieve it later.
9. Copy the API Key and API Secret
Copy and paste the API key and API secret into a safe storage location, such as a password manager or a secure text file.
10. Confirm Your Email Address
KuCoin will send a verification email to the email address associated with your account. Open the email and click on the "Confirm Email" button.
Your API key will now be active, and you can use it to programmatically interact with your KuCoin account and trading activities.
