What coin is BNT?
BNT, the native token of the Bancor decentralized exchange, empowers users with network governance, staking rewards, fee payments, yield farming opportunities, and access to exclusive ecosystem features.

What is BNT?
Bancor Network Token (BNT) is the native token of the Bancor decentralized exchange and liquidity protocol. BNT plays multiple roles within the Bancor ecosystem, including:
1. Network Governance
BNT holders have the power to vote on and influence the development and direction of the Bancor protocol. They participate in decentralized governance through a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), which allows them to propose and vote on changes to the protocol's parameters, features, and operations.
Details:
- Voting power is proportional to the number of BNT tokens held.
- Proposals must meet certain requirements, such as a minimum threshold of votes and time for deliberation.
- Enacted changes aim to enhance the functionality, security, and stability of the Bancor protocol.
2. Staking and Rewards
By staking BNT, token holders contribute to the security and liquidity of the Bancor network. Staked BNT is used to provide liquidity to trading pools, facilitating seamless token swaps. In return, stakers earn passive income in the form of trading fees and rewards.
Details:
- Staking BNT to specific trading pools earns rewards proportionate to the amount staked and the pool's trading volume.
- Staking helps bootstrap liquidity, providing users with better swap rates and deeper order books.
- The Bancor protocol uses a unique staking mechanism called "impermanent loss protection," mitigating the risk of price fluctuations affecting staked assets.
3. Network Fees
BNT is used as the native fee token for transactions on the Bancor network. Network participants pay fees in BNT to initiate token swaps, add or remove liquidity, and perform other on-chain actions. These fees are distributed to liquidity providers and help incentivize network participation.
Details:
- Network fees are charged as a small percentage of the transaction value.
- The fee structure is designed to balance the need for revenue generation with maintaining competitive transaction costs.
- By utilizing BNT as the fee token, the protocol ensures that it remains valuable and in demand.
4. Yield Farming and Liquidity Mining
The Bancor protocol offers yield farming opportunities, enabling users to earn additional BNT rewards by providing liquidity to specific trading pools. Liquidity providers can deposit BNT and other supported assets into these pools, earning rewards in proportion to their contribution.
Details:
- Yield farming incentives encourage participation and ensure sufficient liquidity for popular trading pairs.
- Rewards are typically distributed over a predetermined period, encouraging long-term commitment from liquidity providers.
- The Bancor protocol uses algorithms and incentives to optimize capital efficiency and maximize returns for liquidity providers.
5. Access to Exclusive Features
BNT holders enjoy access to exclusive features and benefits within the Bancor ecosystem. They gain early access to new product launches, participate in community initiatives, and receive tailored support from the Bancor team.
Details:
- BNT holders are the first to experience new features and integrations on the Bancor protocol.
- They have opportunities to provide feedback and influence the development roadmap through community governance.
- The Bancor team offers dedicated support channels for BNT holders, addressing their queries and assisting with account management.
