How to Sell Kraken Perpetual Contracts
Perpetual contracts, also known as perpetual futures or inverse swaps, are financial instruments that allow traders to speculate on the future price of an underlying asset without having to take ownership of it. They are similar to futures contracts but have no expiry date. This makes them suitable for long-term speculation and hedging.
Kraken is one of the leading cryptocurrency exchanges that offers perpetual contracts. In this guide, we will show you how to sell perpetual contracts on Kraken.
Before You Start
Before you start selling perpetual contracts on Kraken, you need to make sure that you have a funded account. You can do this by depositing cryptocurrency into your account or by purchasing cryptocurrency with a credit or debit card.
Step 1: Create an Order
To create an order, you need to click on the "Trade" tab in the Kraken navigation bar. Then, select "Perpetual" from the drop-down menu.
On the perpetual contracts page, you will see a list of all the available trading pairs. To create an order, select the trading pair that you want to trade.
Step 2: Select the Order Type
There are two types of orders that you can create: a market order and a limit order.
A market order is an order to buy or sell an asset at the current market price. Market orders are executed immediately.
A limit order is an order to buy or sell an asset at a specified price. Limit orders are only executed if the market price reaches the specified price.
Step 3: Enter the Order Details
Once you have selected the order type, you need to enter the order details. These include:
- The amount of the asset that you want to buy or sell
- The price at which you want to buy or sell the asset (for limit orders only)
Step 4: Submit the Order
Once you have entered the order details, you can submit the order. To do this, click on the "Buy" or "Sell" button.
Step 5: Monitor the Order
Once you have submitted the order, it will be placed in the order book. You can monitor the status of the order by clicking on the "Orders" tab in the Kraken navigation bar.
Step 6: Close the Order
When the order is filled, you can close the order by clicking on the "Close" button.
Tips for Selling Perpetual Contracts
Here are a few tips for selling perpetual contracts on Kraken:
- Use a limit order to sell perpetual contracts. This will allow you to specify the price at which you want to sell the contract.
- Set a stop-loss order to limit your losses. This will automatically sell the contract if the price falls below a certain level.
- Monitor the market closely. The price of perpetual contracts can change rapidly. Make sure that you are aware of the current market conditions before you place an order.
- Don't trade with more money than you can afford to lose. Perpetual contracts are a leveraged product. This means that you can lose more money than you invested.
