How to Buy Contracts on Poloniex
Poloniex is one of the leading cryptocurrency exchanges offering a wide range of trading options, including contract trading. Contract trading involves buying or selling contracts that represent the underlying asset, in this case, cryptocurrencies. Understanding how to buy contracts on Poloniex is crucial for traders looking to leverage this trading strategy.
Step 1: Create and Fund Your Poloniex Account
- Visit the Poloniex website and create a new account.
- Provide personal details, including name, email, and password.
- Verify your email address to activate your account.
- Fund your account with cryptocurrency or fiat currency (via supported payment methods).
Step 2: Navigate to the Contracts Trading Page
- Log in to your Poloniex account.
- Hover over the "Trading" tab in the top navigation bar.
- Select "Contracts" from the drop-down menu.
Step 3: Choose a Contract to Trade
- Scroll down the Contracts Trading page and browse the available contract listings.
- Each contract listing displays the underlying asset, contract type, expiration date, and other details.
- Select the contract you wish to trade.
Step 4: Set Your Trade Parameters
- Specify the "Quantity" of contracts you want to buy.
- Choose your desired "Limit" or "Market" order type.
- Limit order: Allows you to set a specific price at which you want to buy the contract.
- Market order: Executes your trade immediately at the current market price.
- Adjust the "Leverage" you want to apply (if desired). Leverage increases your potential profit and risk.
Step 5: Place Your Buy Order
- Review your order details carefully.
- Click the "Buy" button to place your order.
- Your order will be added to the order book and executed when the market price reaches your specified parameters.
Step 6: Monitor Your Contract Position
- Navigate to the "Positions" tab under the "Contracts" section.
- This tab displays all your active contract positions.
- Monitor the performance of your contracts by tracking their current price, profit/loss, and other relevant metrics.
Step 7: Manage Your Contract Position
- You can adjust your contract position by placing additional orders or modifying existing ones.
- To close your position (sell your contracts), follow similar steps as for buying, but select the "Sell" button.
- Managing your contract position involves monitoring market conditions and adjusting your strategy accordingly.
