Issue Price and Quantity of XCH Coin
Chia Network's XCH coin, launched in 2021, has a unique issuance mechanism. Here's a breakdown of its issue price and quantity:
1. Issue Price:
XCH coin does not have a fixed or pre-determined issue price. Its value is determined by the market forces of supply and demand on cryptocurrency exchanges.
2. Issue Quantity:
The total issuance of XCH is capped at 23,452,949,235, which is divided into two main categories:
- Pre-farm: 21,000,000 XCH: These coins were pre-mined by Chia Network and allocated to the project's founders, developers, and investors.
- Public Distribution: 2,452,949,235 XCH: These coins are earned through the blockchain's proof-of-space protocol, known as "farming."
3. Farming XCH:
Farming XCH involves using specialized computers with vast storage capacity to participate in the network's space-based consensus algorithm. Farmers allocate storage space to the network, and when new blocks are created, rewards are distributed to the successful farmers.
4. Issue Schedule:
The release of XCH coins is gradual and follows a predetermined schedule:
- Initial Block Reward: 32 XCH per block
- Halving Events: Every three years, the block reward is halved. The first halving occurred in March 2023, reducing the reward to 16 XCH per block.
- Final Block Reward: The network's inflation rate will decrease over time and eventually reach a steady state of approximately 2.5%.
Note: The price and availability of XCH coin can vary significantly over time, and market conditions can impact its value.
