1. Issue Price of TON Coins
The initial issue price of TON coins (now called Toncoin) was set at $0.35 per coin.
2. Issue Quantity of TON Coins
The total supply of TON coins is 5 billion, with the following distribution:
- 40% (2 billion coins) to initial investors
- 29% (1.45 billion coins) to the Telegram team
- 15% (750 million coins) to the Telegram community
- 7% (350 million coins) to other investors
- 9% (450 million coins) reserved for future development
3. Overview
The issue price and distribution of TON coins were determined through a series of private and public sale events held from 2018 to 2020. TON coins were initially planned to be used as currency within the Telegram ecosystem, particularly for micropayments and other value-added services. However, due to regulatory challenges, Telegram pivoted the project and relaunched the blockchain and currency as an open source project in 2021.
It's important to note that the value of Toncoin has fluctuated significantly since its initial issue, and its current price may differ from the issue price.
