How to Get Flare Coins
Flare coins are a native token of the Flare Network, a blockchain platform that aims to connect different blockchains and allow for the creation of decentralized applications. Flare coins (FLR) can be obtained through various methods, including participating in the Spark airdrop, buying FLR on cryptocurrency exchanges, or earning it as a reward for participating in the Flare Network ecosystem.
1. Participating in the Spark Airdrop
The Spark airdrop was the initial distribution of FLR tokens to XRP holders. To qualify for the airdrop, you must have held XRP in a participating wallet or exchange on the snapshot date of December 12, 2020.
- Step 1: Check Your XRP Wallet or Exchange
Verify if your XRP wallet or exchange participated in the airdrop. Many popular platforms, such as Binance, Coinbase, and Kraken, supported the airdrop.
- Step 2: Create a Flare Wallet
You will need a Flare wallet to receive your airdropped FLR tokens. Go to the Flare website and download the Flare Wallet extension for your browser.
- Step 3: Claim Your Spark Tokens
Once you have created a Flare Wallet, you can claim your Spark tokens (SPARK) by connecting your wallet to the Flare Network website and following the instructions provided.
The SPARK tokens will be distributed to your Flare Wallet in a 1:1 ratio to the amount of XRP you held at the time of the snapshot.
2. Buying FLR on Cryptocurrency Exchanges
If you did not participate in the Spark airdrop or want to acquire additional FLR tokens, you can purchase them on cryptocurrency exchanges.
- Step 1: Choose a Reputable Exchange
Select a reputable cryptocurrency exchange that supports FLR trading, such as Binance, KuCoin, or Gate.io.
- Step 2: Create an Account and Fund It
Create an account on the chosen exchange and fund it with your preferred fiat currency or cryptocurrency.
- Step 3: Place a Buy Order
Navigate to the FLR trading pair and place a buy order for the desired amount of FLR. Set the order type, price, and quantity accordingly.
Once the order is executed, the purchased FLR tokens will be credited to your exchange account.
3. Earning FLR as a Reward
You can earn FLR tokens as a reward for participating in the Flare Network ecosystem. Here are two main ways to do so:
- Staking FLR and SGB Tokens: Hold FLR and Spark (SGB) tokens in your Flare Wallet and stake them to support the network. You will earn FLR tokens as a reward for your participation.
- Delegating to a Validator Node: Own FLR tokens and delegate them to a validator node in the Flare Network. Validator nodes help secure the network and process transactions. In return, you will receive FLR tokens as a reward.
