how to bridge bnb to opbnb
Bridging BNB to OPBNB unlocks access to a wider range of decentralized applications and services on the Optimistic Ethereum network.

How to Bridge BNB to OPBNB
Bridging crypto assets between different blockchains allows users to access a wider range of decentralized applications (dApps) and services. One such bridge is the Binance Bridge, which facilitates the transfer of assets between the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) and other blockchains, including Optimistic Ethereum (OP).
This guide will provide a step-by-step explanation of how to bridge BNB, the native token of BSC, to OPBNB, the wrapped version of BNB on OP.
Prerequisites:
- Binance Account: Ensure you have a Binance account and sufficient BNB in your spot wallet.
- Metamask Wallet: Install the Metamask browser extension or mobile app and create a new wallet or import an existing one.
- MetaMask OP Chain Network: Add the Optimistic Ethereum network to your MetaMask wallet.
- BNB Bridge: Visit the Binance Bridge website to initiate the bridging process.
Step 1: Connect MetaMask Wallet to Binance Bridge
- Visit the Binance Bridge website (https://bridge.binance.org/).
- Click on the "Connect Wallet" button and select "MetaMask."
- Follow the prompts to grant Binance Bridge permission to access your MetaMask wallet.
Step 2: Select Assets and Network
- On the Binance Bridge dashboard, select "Transfer" from the menu.
- In the "From" section, choose "BNB" as the asset you want to bridge.
- In the "To" section, select "OPBNB" and choose the "Optimistic Ethereum Network" as the destination network.
Step 3: Enter Amount and Verify Details
- Enter the amount of BNB you wish to bridge.
- Carefully review the details, including the source asset, destination asset, destination network, and bridging amount.
Step 4: Initiate Bridging Transaction
- Click on the "Transfer" button to initiate the bridging transaction.
- Approve the transaction request in your MetaMask wallet.
Step 5: Monitor Transaction Status
- The bridging process may take a few minutes to complete.
- You can track the transaction status on the Binance Bridge dashboard or on the OP explorer (https://optimistic.etherscan.io/).
Step 6: Add OPBNB Token to MetaMask
- Once the bridging transaction is complete, you need to add the OPBNB token to your MetaMask wallet to see the bridged balance.
- Click on the "Add Token" button in MetaMask and enter the OPBNB contract address: 0x0Aa152Df1437A683C152D99D01C666d885dB372C
- Select "OPBNB" in the "Custom Token" section.
Step 7: Confirm OPBNB Balance
- Your MetaMask wallet should now display the bridged OPBNB balance.
- You can use this OPBNB on Optimistic Ethereum to interact with dApps and smart contracts.
